This cozy holiday place is a traditional build timber stuga from over 200 years old, also called “The Pioneer Cabin”. It had a total renovation in 2019 and is decorated with rustic materials and with a touch of the wild-west. Originally, the stuga served as a baking house for baking Swedish tunnbröd. Neighbors could buy the bread here at home. Unfortunately there was nothing of this history left in the stuga and only the remains of the old chimney lay there as a pile of rubble. Now the stuga has been restored to its former glory and with a renewed purpose and called the Swedish Timber Cabin.
From May to mid-October the stuga is our vacation cottage on the Shovelhead Ranch. In Spring time when guests book our “Bear & Wildlife Spotting”, they will be welcomed in the stuga with a lecture on the Scandinavian brown bear and a cup of coffee with snacks (Swedish fika).
As a vacation destination, the stuga offers room for 2 people. There is a separate bedroom with a comfortable double bed. This is equipped with quality mattresses and bedding. In the cozy spacious living room it is open to the roof deck and a loft is carpentered which is decorated like a small pioneer museum. There is a kitchen wood-burning stove (vedspis in Swedish) with a coffee kettle, a fitted kitchen corner with cooking facilities, a special old pine dining table that used to serve as a preparation for baking loaves of bread and there is a cozy sitting area. Sanitary facilities are in the service building of the RV ground/mini-camping and is only 30 meters away.
In front of the stuga is a meadow with orchard and there is a garden set to enjoy outside.
